Just a week before Christmas holidays, Facebook added the new group video chat feature to its Messenger app for as much as 50 participants simultaneously. This sure is the most cherished Christmas gift in advance. Users can now video call their friends simultaneously. They can talk with the whole group of friends for as long as they desire.

Group video chat highlights

The screen shows a grid of participants in a group video call however, once a limit of six friends is reached, only the dominant users videos are shown on the screen. As much as 50 participants can be included in a video call. This number is much higher than the 10 participants limit offered by Skype and Hangouts. In order to use this smart feature, latest version of the Messenger app is needed. Each person can touch the video call icon appearing on the screen if they wish to enter an ongoing video call or they may choose a list of friends and start a new one. For iOS users, there an option of a 3D mask too. Android users will have to wait a little for this feature.  

Video calling is a popular and favorite app around the globe. WhatsApp recently opened this offer to its users. Skype, Snapchat and other apps were already in the market. However, owing to the wide usability and popularity of the Facebook Messenger app, Facebook has the edge of making its new feature a bigger and loved one.
