With days getting closer to the iPhone 8 unveiling, there have been several rumours, leaks and predictions around the Apple flagship. However, this time around, news about the 2018 Apple flagship smartphone has already cropped up. Though this could be a rumour, we could expect well-known sources from around the world to make early predictions.

The speculation stems from a report by The Investor that points out Samsung signing a deal with Apple to supply OLED panels for the iPhone 9 due to launch next year. The iPhone 8 is highly speculated to feature OLED displays, which Samsung would be supplying. The report further states that Samsung is supplying 80 million OLED displays for the iPhone 8 this year, and the shipment is expected to double to 180 million units for the iPhone 9.

According to the report, the deal from Apple is to supply 80 million OLED screens for around three variants of the iPhone, one of which will allegedly feature on the iPhone 8 this year.

The two companies have signed a non-disclosure agreement on general conditions, said the report.

Some sources also have mentioned that Samsung is presently working on a plant in South Chungcheong Province in Korea for the OLED production facilities, especially dedicated for the iPhone.
